Informational Interviews for
Prospective Genetic Counselors

Prospective genetic counseling students go through a lot to prepare for the competitive process of applying to graduate programs. It is a major commitment and with interest in the field and the need for genetic counselors growing faster than the education system can accommodate, many students are limited in the opportunities they are able to pursue. Clover Genetics offers several options for prospective and current students, but as a small business, we too are unable to accommodate the many qualified candidates interested in our competitive Pre-Genetic Counseling Program.

Outside of our internship program, which is based on a competitive application process with limited spots, we also offer two short-term options for students who want to learn more about genetic counseling or for those in need of one-on-one support throughout the process.

One option is our Mentorship Program. This is a student-initiated service to request a Clover Genetics team member be your mentor for a single or repeated meeting that focuses on your professional or academic development and assists you in meeting your goals. This program is for a fee and the number of meetings is at the discretion of the mentee. To learn more, click here.

The other option is a one-time-only Informational Interview with Andy McCarty, MS, CGC, Founder and CEO of Clover Genetics, to discuss the career of genetic counseling, psychiatric genetics, or to ask questions specific to clinical or professional interests. Alternately, students can request a one-time-only informational interview with Rachel Baer, MSc, Clover Genetics’ co-founder and Director of Education to discuss their career goals, questions about graduate school, or in regards to operating a telehealth genetic counseling practice.

This Informational Interview is not tied to either of the Internship Programs or the Mentorship Program and should not be used as a way to learn more about other programs. There are a limited number of available informational interviews each month and there may be a wait of several weeks depending on the availability of our practice. If you schedule an informational interview after already having had one with either Andy or Rachel, it will be automatically canceled.
